The workshop will be held at The Ajanta Hotel at Trinity Circle from 10.30 to 1.30 pm. Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Lakshmi Narayanan, retired superintendent of Central Jail, endorsed the need for stricter, punitive action against those filing false cases against people. “I have personally experienced two instances where false cases have been filed against me. It was finally proved in court that I was innocent. I have also come across many such cases during my stint at Central Jail. I believe that the State government should take steps to make amendments to acts so that immediate, punitive action is taken against such incidents,” Lakshmi Narayana said. Kumar Jagirdhar, founder of CRISP, said, “In recent years, there has been some awareness about false cases being filed. But with the number increasing, the State government has to take steps to prevent innocent people from being subjected to humiliation, defamation and not to mention the expenditure they have to undertake to prove their innocence.” =====================================****************
