INDOCHINE NATURAL: SHOKUNIN KISHITSU At Indochine Natural 2015 - TopicsExpress

INDOCHINE NATURAL: SHOKUNIN KISHITSU At Indochine Natural 2015 has started with quite a few frustrations, stemming mainly from our dissatisfaction with the quality provided by some of our suppliers. Our demand for high quality has many around us perplexed, and for many a cheap quick fix seems a more sensible solution for many people. To better understand our quality demands at Indochine Natural I reflect on the Japanese virtue of “SHOKUNIN KISHITSU” which means “the Craftsman’s Spirit” describing a work ethic and sense of pride one should take in everything one does. At Indochine Natural, we believe that our insistence on high quality and attention to detail, plus showing special care for what we each do as part of the overall company effort, we end up offering more to customers than just a retail product, and that we ourselves receive more than just a company profit. In trying to also do better and provide higher and higher quality, this has the customer in mind all the time, which make our efforts as much a spiritual as it is a material offering. At Indochine Natural this is important to us, and those who deal with us would probably understand better our insistence on quality and a sense of pride in what we do if they understood our “Craftsman’s Spirit.” The spirit of Shokunin Kishitsu is captured very nicely in the movie JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI, the story of 85-year-old Jiro Ono who is considered by many to be the worlds greatest sushi chef. But no grand restaurant for this gentleman, he is the proprietor of a 10-seat, sushi-only restaurant located in a Tokyo subway station. However, despite its humble appearances, this is the first restaurant of its kind to be awarded a prestigious three-star Michelin Guide rating. I have included a link to a trailer of this movie just to provide an simple insight into Shokunin Kishitsu…..the “the Craftsman’s Spirit”
