INEC and Atahiru Jega should apologize to Nigerians, Buckle up immediately, and Provide eligible Nigerian voters with their Permanent Voter Cards Buhari Vanguard tells INEC Press Release November 12, 2015. Lagos Ladies and gentlemen of the press, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC is expected to distribute permanent voter cards, PVC to Nigerians in preparation for the 2015 general election, but the exercise has been characterized with lots of hitches and irregularities all over the states in Nigeria. In many cases, INEC claimed that the data they captured have been lost. In other cases, INEC staff was not seen in the stipulated polling units to distribute the permanent voters card PVC to anxiously waiting Nigerians. In some cases, INEC confirmed that they were not ready to distribute the Permanent Voter card and postponed the exercise to various dates in the future. You will recall that in 2011, the senate approved N87,721,961,531 (eighty seven billion, seven hundred and twenty one million, nine hundred and sixty one thousand, five hundred and thirty one naira) requested by the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] for the 2011 general elections. Senate President, Senator David Mark said that despite misgivings from senators on the request by the electoral body, the upper legislative house approved the fund to ensure free and fair elections in 2011.He explained that the budget was approved by the senate to avoid being blamed for hitches in the general elections; senators also charged the leadership of the commission to justify the confidence reposed in it by the passage of the bill. What is most disgusting and unacceptable is that the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has made efforts to defend and explain what is clearly a total failure and a show of high level of incompetency and inefficiency by the commission, instead of apologizing to Nigerians and making amends immediately to salvage the situation, after collecting huge sums of money. It is difficult to imagine that INEC with such a vast sum of money cannot secure the data of electorates that it registered in 2011 after claiming it purchased sophisticated data capturing machines. It is unfortunate that INEC is bold to claim that most of the data captured have been lost and it cannot reproduce many which has resulted to denying many Nigerians the privilege to have their permanent voters card PVC. Professor Attahiru Jega, Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has gone further to make more demands for the conduct of the 2015 general election when he disclosed that Nigeria will need N92.9 billion to conduct the 2015 elections. This is irrespective of the fact that INEC cannot justify the huge amount of money it has previously spent. We hereby demand that Prof Atahiru Jega and INEC immediately apologize to Nigerians over their inability to issue registered voters their permanent voters card PVC at the appropriate time. We also demand that INEC immediately buckle up, make amends and restrategize to register eligible Nigerian voters and issue an acceptable voting card to all eligible Nigerians. We insist that no eligible Nigerian voter should be disenfranchised in 2015. We plead with Nigerians to be patience and law abiding as we compel INEC to do the right thing as we move close to the 2015 general election. God bless Nigeria. Com Jasper Azuatalam Chairman, Buhari vanguard.
