INEC faults APC Chairman’s criticism over voter’s register ================ The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has faulted the claim by Chief Bisi Akande, National Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) that it manipulated the Osun voter register. Mr Oladipo Oladapo, INEC Administrative Secretary in the state told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview in Osogbo that the exercise held between March 7 and March 9 was successful. Akande, had last Sunday scored the commission low in the conduct of the exercise after he collected his Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) in Ila-Orangun, his home town. The APC chairman alleged that some prospective voters could not find their names while other names appeared twice on the register. However, the INEC scribe said that the fact that Akande, was able to collect his own PVC was clear evidence that the register was not manipulated by the commission as alleged. He explained that the commission had put all necessary measures in place including security arrangement to ensure that the exercise was devoid of errors. Oladapo noted that the revision of the voter register had been successful while all efforts were also being made to ensure that the ongoing continuous voters’ registration was successful. He said the commission operated a centre per each registration area where there were a number of units . “This continuous voters’ registration is meant for those who have turned 18 after the last exercise and those who our officials could not capture their 10 fingerprints so that they can do their recapturing. “Those who are on transfer will collect a form from their Local Governments to complete and forward it to the commission for further action,” he said.
