INFORMATION AND INVITATION TO ALL: Marakwet Cultural and Festivals (MCDF) is an event which is Marked Annually, the first event was held on 20th July 2012 and attended by thousands of community Members and hundreds of dignitaries both local and international,Its objectives are to promote positive community Cultures, Promote Peace and Conflict Resolutions as the community’s Cultural value!, Promote unity; stability and cohesion within the Marakwet community and all neighboring communities in the region, Sensitize the community and other residents on the positive Cultures, Advocate for the preservation of cultures, Promote the use of cultural and Traditional Festival event to attract and promote local and international tourism to the region, promote Education the community,Youth and women Economic Empowerment e.t.c The activities for the Day include: i) Show casing of Cultures through performances of Traditional Dancers songs, poems, concerts and role plays ii) Show casing/Exhibitions of valuable Cultural and Traditional artifacts iii) Sponsored Marakwet Ladies beauty contest which will culminate to miss County and other activities for the day! The 2013 Cultural event theme is “Let’s preserve our local Cultures for Counties and National prosperity” . The event will be marked with competitions and presentations of Traditional songs and performances , culture preservation, and cohesion and Development messages. The event will also witness rewarding of best group(s) presenting the Cultural Dancers & performances of the day. We will Mark the event this month Saturday on 20th and even later in the Year! This important annual event will be graced by both local and international participants. Among the Confirmed Quests of the Day are: a) Hon.Senator Kipchumba Murkomen -Senator,Elgeyo/Marakwet County. b) Eng.Alex Tolgos-His Excellency the Governor,Elgeyo/Marakwet County, c) Hon. Dr.Susan Chebet-Women Representative Elgeyo/Marakwet County. d) Hon.Robert Katina-County Speaker,West-pokot county, e) Quests from the Neighboring counties of Pokot,Baringo,Uasin-Gishu ,at the National and International Quests, Other key confirmed Quests and stakeholders include:Local and regional administrators, Officials from Ministry of Tourism (North Rift region),County Officials from the Departments of Youth,women, culture and social services, County Officials in charge of Trade and tourism,North and Mid rift tourism Associations,National museums of Kenya,local and regional groups on cultural issues and many other corporate groups. Thousands of community members residents and hundreds of stakeholders are ready for this annual Day as agreed earlier and as per the already dispatched invitations.Traditional dancers and exhibitors of the day are in top gear! We are grateful that several County leaders and other stakeholders have agreed to mobilize other leaders and stakeholders we join hands to ensure will become a great success.
