INITIAL COMPLAINT TO CQC 30/10/2014 Your concerns about this service are... my concerns regarding this home in particular are in respect that the care quality commission report for this home is at present not up to date and is highly misleading to other potential service users along with myself. I know for a fact that serious safeguarding concerns around physical abuse and neglect has been substantiated by Stockton safeguarding team regarding this home following the allegations of abuse back in march this year 2014 with respect of *************. I do not see any updates on your report of this home, reflecting abuse has even taken place in this establishment. I put it to the care commissioning service that leaving these serious factors out and not updating your reports in a timely manner or even if at all, that you too are just as responsible for any further instances of abuse occurring at this establishment. I believe that your reports are the main decision making tools, that we as service users and relatives alike, have to our disposal, that does ultimately enable us to choose the level of care, what we believe to be, (going off your reports), to be the best levels of care in our areas, that our loved ones are entitled to receive and would deserve. unfortunately, I find your reports to be, not only misleading but untruthful in its contents in this respect. I also find this service just as responsible as the( homes that abuse our elders), for allowing it to continue, by NOT reflecting the truth of these individual homes when proven allegations of abuse causing harm / significant harm etc to the people we are meant and do have a duty of care to protect. care homes hide behind your reports for the purpose of making money, as it appears to be all about bums in beds and not as it should be and thats having a care system that we can rely on and be proud of and above all TRUST. I would like to see up to date facts of abuse reflected accurately within your reports and in fact kept up to date in a timely manner, so that people like myself can make educated decisions as to where would be more appropriate for our loved one to stay free from harm. I mean not to cause offence, but simply to highlight a seriously concerning failing within our care system, namely yours at present. I would like to see changes happen in the very near future especially in respect of keeping your reports factual and up to date, otherwise, what is the point of any safeguarding team, doing there job and duty of care to investigate allegations of abuse (and) Yes, in fact, in many cases are PROVING that abuse has actually occurred within many of these establishments, if it is not then further undated immediately within your reports, reflecting that abuse has occurred at these particular homes, as by doing this it would at least help to give choice, options and yes further prevent abuse continuing/ occurring within these homes. As unfortunately the abusing staff involved are rarely dismissed for there actions by these homes themselves, therefore leaving present service users at further risks of significant harm or neglect etc.. Therefore, its a sad fact to face, but abuse will continue by theses same so called caring hands, and this is because at present, some of your reports are in fact, deliberately or unintentionally, misleading to the prospective and current service users and there relatives alike. I look forward to your response and in fact an explanation as to why in************** case of proven physical abuse and neglect, as to why it is not yet,at present, been updated and reflected within your report. kindest regards Toni Curry RESPONSE FROM CQC TODAY 12TH NOVEMBER 2014 Good afternoon Toni, Thank you for contacting the Care Quality Commission (CQC), your enquiry reference is ENQ1-*******028. We appreciate your feedback and thank you for taking the time to contact us about this. If you have concerns regarding the care being received by *********** at Ayresome Court, I would encourage you to reply to this e-mail with any further details of concerns regarding ************* treatment. In relation to your worries on how we inspect and publish our reports. Please click here to be taken to the page on our website where you will find information regarding the consultation which took place on how we regulate, inspect and rate services. This page advises we are in the process of updating the standards and that our final plans will be developed using the feedback from the consultation. These changes will come into effect in April 2015. From April 2015 the aim of our new inspection model is to get to the heart of patients’ experiences. We will look at the quality and safety of the care provided based on the things that matter to people. We will look at whether the service is: safe. effective. caring. responsive to people’s needs. well-led. Through this approach, we will have a richer and broader understanding of the quality provided. It will also allow us to comment on new areas around leadership and governance. We developed the changes outlined in these documents over the past year together with the public, providers, our staff and organisations with an interest in our work. We have produced handbooks for each sector of health and social care services and these can be viewed on the consultation page. Closer to the time that the new standards come into effect we will issue guidance on the meeting of these. For your information, our current guidance on meeting the standards can be viewed here. As you mention, you have concerns regarding ************* care have not been added to our website and latest report on Ayresome Court. I can confirm the compliance inspector is fully aware of your email and information you have previously supplied about Ayresome Court. This information will be taken into account, together with the new inspection model when Ayresome Court is next inspected. I hope that this helps.
