INSTRUMENT OR AUTHOR? (The Whole Point) THE WHOLE POINT of this teaching is that it has no supposed to, either implied or expressed, as to what you are to do or not do. The understanding is underneath the doing; it is the bedrock upon which all the doing happens. What you do is a product of your programming. And you can see this very clearly if you examine your behavior. Dont take my word for it. Examine your behavior. Look for yourself and see what fuels your actions. You may say, I dont know what Im supposed to do. Fair enough. But that statement presumes you are the author of your actions, because if you are not the author then the question What am I supposed to do? doesnt have any meaning. It only has meaning if youre the author. If youre the instrument of the doing, then the only question is, What will I do next? Thats the difference between being an instrument and being the author. - Wayne Liquorman, Never Mind advaita.org/ See Events Calendar for current schedule of Advaita Talks with Wayne in Los Angeles and Europe advaita.org/ I am not sure that I exist, actually, I am all the writers that I have read, all the people that I have met, all the women that I have loved, all the cities that I have visited, all my ancestors... - Jorge Luis Borges
