********INTERNATIONAL VERSION******* Way, way back Visayas area is a big part of our family. Leyte, esp Tacloban and Ormoc City were our vacation place when my father was still connected to an NGO (Non-Government Organization). Weve learned to love that place for four consecutive years. It was a heartbreaking for us to watch the News and see photos in social media, how Haiyan(yolanda) devasted the region. Below is the JAMP, written by my father. Im asking for a little time of yours to read. Dios Mabalos po JUST A MINUTE PLEASE: AN APPEAL TO RELATIVES, FRIENDS AND THE PUBLIC AT LARGE ON BEHALF OF THE VICTIMS OF TYPHOON HAIYAN (YOLANDA) Prior to working here in London I was for four years managing the Partners for Health Child Survival Project of Pearl S. Buck International funded by United States Aid for International Development in the province of Leyte in the Philippines. Those years spent contributed to what I am now today. The people in those far-flung villages and the devoted health workers of the local governments in the area were not only the beneficiaries and partners of the project I was managing as director but later on they became my friends. For this reason I can’t merely be just a passive individual content with reading the newspapers and listening to BBC of the plight of the people in Tacloban City. The people and the place have been close to my heart. I am aware that our government, friendly countries and international humanitarian organisations have been in the forefront as they addressed the gigantic tasks of relief operation. In my own way, I initiated together with the other Filipino nurses and cares to solicit used clothes, blankets, kitchen utensils etc. Perhaps by the time you are reading this. we have already sent the first box of relief.. I know that this act of ours will not be enough but for sure it will be of great help. On top of this, I am launching another appeal which I call JUST A MINUTE PLEASE. The phrase is both appropriate as a plea as well as a response by those willing to help. If we can take time for at least a minute to pause, pray and contribute at least a minute-worth of our monthly income or salary, Pooled together, our monetary contribution will mean a lot. I have organised two teams here in London composed of nurses and carers. TEAM A is led by Mr. Joselo Silva of Negros and Mrs. Vilma Fernandez of Tacloban/Cebu while Team B is composed of my workmates Mrs. Judyline Lipke of Butuan/Cebu and Annie Llanes of Legazpi City. If you are with us in this endeavour, below is the mechanics of this project. 1a, Deposit at least a minute-worth of your income for the month to Project: JUST A MINUTE PLEASE Bank: BARCLAYS BANK LONDON SORT CODE 209467 ACCOUNT 23490041 Account Name CARLO VALIENTE Reference YOLANDA2013 1b. Alternatively, you can donate to any charitable or international organisations working for the relief efforts in the Philippines. But please do inform us of the amount and your preferred organisation so that we will know how much fund this appeal had generated. 2. This project was envisaged to be a chain letter and to reach as much people as it can via the internet and other social network or via the post so we highly encourage you to pass this on to your friends and relatives. Lets JAMP now. DAMO HIN SALAMAT (THANK YOU VERY MUCH). Sincerely, Carlo Valiente RGN., Msc CHAIRMAN, Project JAMP
