Internship at Transparency International Kenya, Advocacy and Legal Advice Centre, Eldoret TI Kenya is seeking a highly motivated intern for its Advocacy and Legal Advice Centre Programme (ALAC) in Eldoret Transparency International (TI) is the leading global non-governmental, non-profit organisation devoted to combating corruption. Its mission is to catalyse change towards a world free of corruption. TI currently has close to 90 National Chapters around the world, and its International Secretariat is based in Berlin, Germany. TI does not investigate or expose individual cases of corruption but advocates for reform by focusing on systemic improvement and by building coalitions with other anti-corruption stakeholders, including governments, the private sector and civil society organisations. The TI network currently has twenty Advocacy and Legal Advice Centres (ALACs) in sixteen different countries and is expanding this presence. The ALACs provide legal advice and assistance to victims and witnesses of corruption. Description of Internship Main function: Assisting the Advocacy and Legal Advice Officer, in supporting the operations of the TI ALAC Programme in Eldoret Duration: 3 months, extended to six months depending on candidate. Full time Monday to Friday Location: Eldoret, Kenya Remuneration: see TI Internship Guidelines at: transparency.org/contact_us/work Key responsibilities: • Contribute to the content development of the TI Website section on ALACs • Assist with the receipt, booking and recording calls from clients for purposes of processing cases • Assist in conducting initial interviews and screening of victims as per ALAC case management protocol • Assist with the organization of workshops, meetings and community forums • Assist with public relations campaigns , advocacy and database management • Assist with the development of a participatory results and impact tracking system for TI ALAC Eldoret • Assist in research, data collection, statistical analysis, documentation, record-keeping, administrative and logistical tasks related to supporting the ALAC office • Assist with CSO networking and provide secretarial support to the North Rift Coalition for Good Governance • Any other duty that may be allocated from time to time Knowledge, experience and skills: In particular: • Excellent English and Swahili communication and writing skills required. • Legal background and/or training and familiarity with work of legal and/or anti-corruption institutions an asset. • Knowledge of, and/or previous participation in civil society advocacy for social and institutional change an asset. • Previous experience organizing workshops an asset. • Familiarity with computer applications such as MS Excel, Word, Outlook and Access required. • Experience with web-site editing experience a distinct advantage.
