Please feel free to circulate this & strengthen our mission to rebuild Uttarakhand: ARCH is creating this platform in order to contribute to the ongoing relief and Rehab, programs going on in Uttarakhand. 20,000 plus pilgrims, tourists and locals died. Thousands of vehicles washed away with the flood like match boxes. Thousands of hotels, houses, villages and dwellings do not exist now. Thousands of survivors can’t stay in their houses because of siltation. Thousands of acres of agricultural fields washed away with the floods It was humans that were rescued by helicopters but what about the livestock there. We are not going to write a full length detailed minute by minute report or give you news on Uttarakhand. As you saw it all in the NEWS. The reason why I am writing to you all is that today Uttarakhand and its people need the rest of the country more than anything for rehab effort. Villages have been washed away. Children are orphaned. Men missing. Right now the media is focusing with all its might to show the rest of the world that we in India too do rescue our citizens. Now that all the surviving pilgrims and tourists have been rescued the media will also soon leave and then what happens to Uttarakhand and it people ? Now ARCH needs volunteers, people who are ready to travel to Uttarakhand for a field study of the disaster hit villages (more than 250 villages). This Study will give us an idea as to what are the requirements that are primarily needed. Volunteers who can afford their own travel & field expenses are more than wanted. Voluntary Skills Required: Base-line-data generation, report & content writers, disaster management, medical professionals, sanitation, architects & town planners, engineers, scientists, RS & GIS applications, geologists, crop scientists, horticulturists, life sciences, statisticians, communications, energy, Retd. foresters, policy makers, scientists & Govt. officials, RTI activists, environment & climate change, Universities HOD’s, BSc, MSc & PhD students, Web, IT & software professionals, travel professionals, NGO professionals, media professionals to further the cause, govt. liasioning, networking & communication skills, visual documentation (own equipments), graphic artists, filmmakers & other fraternity members, corporate leaders & educators, resource mobilizers, motivators & coordinators, and mountaineering & trekking skills. Though this will be a long duration field study, and what is important is your desire to help with your skills, it does not matter if you can give 15 days or six months on the field, come lets do it this time somehow. Friends ARCH is not asking for money for relief work but volunteers and skilled people who think their skills might be helpful from anywhere and who are ready to help and assist in a situation like this. You might not be in a position to come or personally volunteer, but if you know anybody, some body , please pass the details and Resumes to Prateek Panwar at arch.birdcount@gmail Tel # +91-9412054216.
