It started happening one night everyone else was out getting something to eat and Tim (Farriss) picked up a bass and I started a few vocal lines which got crazier and crazier while the bass was getting heavier and heavier. Then the other guys came back and got involved. We finished writing and recording it the same night. The song ended up being about how attitudes change from year to year and how you arrive at the changes - the swing of the pendulum.
