IPP 2016 WHY GHANA? OH WHEN? We are haste to destroy than to build. Agbesi Wayome stole Ghc50million of the Ghanaian tax payer’s money, he didn’t go to jail. KT Hammond stole and sold our ship and he is a freeman walking on the streets of Accra. But a businessman who has all these years worked, created jobs to over 1,000 Ghanaian young men and women and also contributed financially to the state coffers is sentenced to prison for non payment of his recent company’s SSNIT contributions due to financial distress the business is in. I think common sense should rather help him to continue be in business and pay by instalments. Those that bring in the money for them to steal are jailed, whiles those that steal them walk free. We don’t support or connive with employers not to pay their SSNIT contributions but rather acknowledge that businesses sometimes find it very difficult to run when they are cash trapped. It becomes much critical to even pay salaries and other fixed operating expenses. It is an open secret that Ghana government who can even print money sometimes had to postpone statutory payments, so it shouldn’t be surprise if businesses also go through such financial difficulties. Let’s help our businessmen to be in business to create the necessary jobs that our youth needs. Let’s cooperate with businesses to pay all statutory obligations with some kind of flexibility. Our major priority should be going concerns. IPP: Yenko nkoaa IPP: So me ha na so me ha ippgh.org
