IRISH RACING PREVIEW Venue: CORK Date: 23 May 2014 First race: 5.30pm (Seven Races - Flat) Going: Soft Irish champion jumps trainer Willie Mullins and Irish champion Flat jockey Joseph OBrien team up with Shamar in the feature €20,000 handicap at Cork on Friday night run over a mile and two furlongs • Champion Flat jockey Joseph OBrien has only ever ridden twice for Willie Mullins so it is interesting to see him booked to ride Shamar for the champion jumps trainer in the Follow @corkracecourse on Twitter Handicap (8.05pm), the €20,000 highlight of the seven-race Flat card at Cork on Friday evening. • Shamar has been a shade disappointing over jumps but looks to be on an attractive mark for the Flat and he faces seven rivals including the Dermot Weld-trained Diplomat and the in-form Edge Of Sanity from the Jim Bolger yard. • Bansha-based trainer David Marnane has enjoyed a terrific time of things with his runners in Dubai over the last few years but he will hope hoping to strike with Nocturnal Affair in the opening Fathers Day Racing June 15th Race (5.30pm) over the minimum trip of five furlongs. • The seven-race card at Cork begins at 5.30pm with the last race due off at 8.35pm.
