IRISH RACING WEEKEND PREVIEWS Venue: DOWN ROYAL Date: 02 November 2013 First race: 12.50pm (seven races - Jumps) Going: Hurdle track - good to yielding, yielding in places; Chase track - yielding, good to yielding in places Sizing Europe out to destroy his three mile demons in JNwine Champion Chase at Down Royal on Saturday but will need to be at his brilliant best to deny First Lieutenant and Mount Benbulben • It is the biggest date in Down Royals diary on Saturday as the track plays host to the Grade 1 JNwine Champion Chase which sees Sizing Europe make his second appearance of the season having won on his return at Gowran Park. Sizing Europe has been a superstar over two miles for the last number of years but has yet to prove himself over this longer trip but he will never get a better chance to destroy his three-mile demons. Having finishing second in the race in both 2010 and 2011, it may be third time lucky for Sizing Europe in 2013. • But he will certainly need to bring his A-game with First Lieutenant in opposition. Mouse Morris charge was a model of consistency last season and has the benefit of a Punchestown comeback under his belt. Last years winner Kauto Stone is back to defend his title, while the presence of last years exciting novice Mount Benbulben makes it a race to savour. • The Grade 2 Powers Irish Whiskey Chase (3.05pm) has been won by Paul Nicholls for the last five years on the trot and it is interesting that he relies on Rolling Aces to make that six, the mount of Nick Scholfield. The colours of Michael OLearys Gigginstown House Stud will be carried by Dedigout, Toner DOudairies and Tofino Bay and it may be a tip in itself that retained rider Davy Russell has chosen to partner the latter. • The spectacular seven-race card at Down Royal kicks off at 12.50pm on Saturday.
