IS IT ME OR IS NEWS/JOURNALISM A FRIGGIN MESS AT THE MOMENT? I have started watching the melding of satire and news recently and it isnt just because truth is stranger than fiction at times these days. It began with Fox News becoming Faux News: Fairly Unbalanced but gaining market share. Then CNN panicked and Anderson Cooper gave up on serious and started giggling like a 7th grader. Then, in digital media, I saw these Onion-esque sites popping up which are hard to discern from parody because of the ridiculousness of serious content these days. AND NOW... It is watching what is passing for NEWS on Yahoo News and the The Huffington Post and the fact that these digital media sources have allowed themselves to be compromised with serious scandal sheet stuff and yellow journalism intermixed. And they are not the only ones, just some of the biggest. This worries me a whole heckuva lot. Am I over-reacting?
