IS MATTHEWS SERIOUS? Chris Matthews on his show today, October 2, 2014, in reference to President Obama, stated smart Presidents like Kennedy, Reagan, etc., surround themselves with people smarter than them, to challenge them, but this administration isnt like that, because theyve filled the White House with staffers that are yes people. Has this guy no sense of respect of the President or his intelligence? How many on his staff can be much smarter than a Harvard University graduate that held the most prestigious position in the country as President of the Harvard Law Review, graduated from Columbia, was adjunct professor, then a tenured professor, and a practicing attorney, all before deciding to run for any political office? The Obamas both worked in private sector jobs, and the revenue collected from two of President Obamas best selling books, is where the bulk of their earnings come from. Two years after graduating, Obama was hired in Chicago as director of the Developing Communities Project (DCP), a church-based community organization originally comprising eight Catholic parishes in Roseland, West Pullman, and Riverdale on Chicagos South Side. He worked there as a community organizer from June 1985 to May 1988. That evidence can be found in the FAQ section of the DCPS website, in the link provided below. Did President Barack Obama once work for DCP? Yes. He was the first executive director when DCP became independently incorporated. dcpchicago.org/site/epage/95123_868.htm He also worked as a consultant and instructor for the Gamaliel Foundation, a community organizing institute. That can be evidenced in the body of an article; im the following excerpt on the Gamaliel website : At the most, the average informed citizen might know that Barack Obama started out as an organizer for Gamaliel. gamaliel.org/News/IntheNews/tabid/244/PostID/6/Default.aspx During his summers, on break from Harvard, he returned to Chicago, where he worked as an associate at the law firms of Sidley Austin in 1989 and Hopkins & Sutter in 1990 as evidenced in a Chicago Tribune news article. articles.chicagotribune/1990-07-11/business/9002260636_1_law-firms-harvard-law-school-minority In 1990, then law student Barack Obama also served as President of the Harvard Law Review, a publication ran and staffed by law students on campus. nytimes/1990/02/06/us/first-black-elected-to-head-harvard-s-law-review.html The Harvard Law Review, generally considered the most prestigious in the country, elected the first black president in its 104-year history. The job is considered the highest student position at Harvard Law School. In 1991, Obama accepted a two-year position as Visiting Law and Government Fellow at the University of Chicago Law School to work on his first book. He then taught at the University of Chicago Law School for twelve years, m.law.uchicago.edu/node/160 as a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996, and as a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004, teaching Constitutional law. In 1993, he joined Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, lawmbg/index.cfm/PageID/2711 a 13-attorney law firm specializing in civil rights litigation and neighborhood economic development, where he was an associate for three years from 1993 to 1996, then of counsel from 1996 to 2004. He also worked as an Illinois State Senator before becoming a United States Senator as evidenced on page 13 of this pdf file sos.state.il.us/bb/sec4_71_132.pdf He served three terms representing the 13th District in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004, before running unsuccessfully for the United States House of Representatives in 2000.
