IS THERE A HEAVEN I ASK ................FINAL VERSION! Is there a Heaven I ask; or its antithesis, Hell? When the casket is lowered do I sink into a well? Or do the Angels come down to guide me across Or I wait while they tally my profit and loss? Or do I vanish in thin air to merge with the light That cuts across the darkness way beyond our sight Where all souls converge to be reborn again To rewrite the story of Abel and Cain! I don’t know, but, it is a concern I must address Before my life goes by and in my mind I digress But the chances of an answer will still be remote When such is the dilemma, do I dare cast my vote? Perhaps it is better to be in there for the ride To see the ocean swell and the coming of the tide Walk by a bed of roses to take the fragrance in To know the difference between a good deed and sin - Instead of just thinking there must be a God Up in holy Heaven with His lightning rod Pronouncing judgments on the good and the bad Punishing sinners and all those who are mad But why are they favored while here in this world Why aren’t they weeded out and into Hell hurled Much before their DNA contaminates the rest So we don’t end up failing each and every test? Wherever you look there are Devils galore Who hold back no punches but land us some more The merchants of death are armed to their teeth While the weak and the poor are kept beneath! Injustice rules while the jungle laws give No right to freedom or reason to live If such be the state of His Divine Creation Why give in to hope or a sense of elation? Better close your eyes and not worry your head Regardless of your choices you’ll soon be dead But the queries will live till the end of time To follow a belief or not give a dime!
