The United States refrained on Friday from commenting on the ICC prosecutors decision to drop the charges of crimes against humanity that had been lodged against President Uhuru Kenyatta. Responding to a Nation request for a response to the withdrawal of charges, a State Department said the US is aware of the development and suggests that further inquiries about it should be made to the ICC. As a general matter, the official added, we continue to emphasise the importance of accountability, justice and the rule of law in Kenya.
