ISIS and The Beheadings I have been watching -as everyone - TopicsExpress

ISIS and The Beheadings I have been watching -as everyone else has- the actions of those known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria #ISIS of killing and beheading of people and boasting about it. I even heard one of their members justifying it and claiming that it is from the religion of Islam and the guidance of the messenger SAWS. So is it true that Islam allows beheadings as we have seen from this group? It has not been narrated that the messenger sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam ever commanded that or approved of it in all of his years of war against the disbelievers of Quraysh or any other entity whom he fought against. Imam Al-Zuhri said, No head was ever carried to the messenger of Allah, not even on the day of Badr. A head was once carried to Abu Bakr and he condemned that (AlSunan AlKubra, Al-Bayhaqi) When the head of Yanaq Al-Bitreeq was brought to Abu Bakr after the battle of Ajnadeen, he ascended the pulpit and said, The head of Yanaq Al-Bitreeq was brought to us and we had no need for that. That is the custom of the non Muslims Arabs. (Tareekh Dimashq) Uqbah ibn Amir relates that he brought the head of Yanaq Al-Bitreeq to Abu Bakr who condemned that. He said to him, But they do that to us! to which Abu Bakr replied, Should we then be like the Persians and Romans? Let no heads be brought to me, a letter is sufficient to inform. (Sunan AlBayhaqi) As for using as evidence, Strike their necks, (Surat Muhammad v. 4) the mention of the striking of the neck was due to the majority of casualties in war being caused in that fashion as Al-Qurtubi mentions in his tafsir. Also what is narrated in the seerah from some who would say, Allow me to strike the neck of this hypocrite what they intended was permission to kill them as that is how killing was executed in that time. As for beheading individuals and boasting about it, that is something that has no place in Islam. In this day and age the instruments of war have changed and hence there is no point to using swords and knives. The torturing of a prisoner of war, or even one who will receive capital punishment, is not allowed. As for what these terrorist groups commit of torture and taking pleasure in that it as if mercy has been removed from their hearts, and so they are more resembling of drug cartels and thugs. Those are the ones who spread fear with these types of barbaric actions and so they are their real sources of inspiration and predecessors. So in conclusion I wish to caution all of my Muslim brothers and sisters from being deluded by this misguided group or any other terrorist organization and advise them to hold fast to the Quran, sunnah and the scholars of the Muslims who are far from extremism. We ask Allah to protect us all.
