ISKORKI THEATRE GROUP FROM SAMARA PERFORMED AT TRIVANDRUM 20.10.2014 Шестая Гималайская экспедиция завершилась в столице штата Керала грандиозным концертом ансамбля «Искорки» The “ISKORKI” Children’s folk musical and choreographic theatre from Samara City presented a brilliant performance in Trivandrum under the aegis of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture on October 20, 2014. The concert was organized within the framework of the on-going Year of Culture in Russia—2014. The programme was dedicated to the 140th birth anniversary of Nikolai Roerich and the 110th birth anniversary of Svyatoslav Roerich. The 90-minute colourful programme was held at the A.K.G. Hall and more than 1000 people gathered in the venue to attend the concert. The 19-member group presented both traditional and contemporary dances and songs. That included Russian Cossack dance, Gypsy dance, harvest dance, etc. The unique costumes donned by the dancers were an added attraction to the audience. A number of ministers, members of the Parliament of India and members of the Legislative Assembly, writers, film personalities, air force and army officials, etc., were present to witness the concert. In his inaugural address, Mr. Alexander Baby (M.A. baby), former Minister of Cultural Affairs of Kerala, said that such exchange programmes would always bring different countries closer to each other. The programme was organised in association with the cultural organisation Swaralaya.
