ISLAMABAD: Former Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) chairman Tauqir Sadiq has challenged three years imprisonment announced by an accountability court. He filed the appeal against the sentence in the Islamabad High Court (IHC). Sadiq, who is accused of Rs82 billion corruption in OGRA and irregularities in awarding CNG licenses was sentenced by the court in absentia. He contended that he was in the custody of United Arab Emirates (UAE) in May 2013 and he didn t deliberately avoid appearing before the court. Sadiq said that the sentence which was announced in absentia has no justification after his appearnce.
