{ISUM Summit Working Group: Action, Advocacy and Public Engagement} Facilitator Spotlight: Nigel Branken Nigel Branken, together with his wife Trish, live with their 6 children in the urban, inner-city suburb of Hillbrow, in Johannesburg, South Africa. As they stand in solidarity with those facing extreme poverty, their primary focus is in forming relationships with their neighbours in order to support and walk alongside them, to advocate on their behalf and take action where needed. Nigel believes that God is extremely concerned with the brokenness in our cities and nations and that, as Christians, we are each called to stand in solidarity with those suffering around us. In order to bring change, Nigel believes we need to see the future, prepare for the future and then become the future. Nigel is committed to seeing people freed from poverty, inequality, racism and exploitation. Nigel dreams of equality in education systems, healthcare, housing, security, etc and is committed to being apart of solutions to these issues in his community.
