IT ALL LOOKS NORMAL I take this oddly pretty woman to the doctor in my cab and afterwards when I take her home again she has a big manila envelope. She takes pictures out of the envelope and looks at them. What a trip she says I got a colonoscopy and they gave me some pictures you want to see? Oh, well, I don’t... But it’s too late she puts one up in front of my face even though I’m driving and I stare down into the red fleshy tunnels of her and see the mucous gleaming twisting down and turning a corner where the probe didn’t reach. I push it away in time to avoid rear-ending the Volvo that brakes fast in front of me so as not to hit a little girl chasing a blue ball into the street. It all looks normal, she says. That’s good, I say. I drop her off at her house and watch her walk away somehow not as attractive as I had previously thought.
