ITV is usually very good at resurrected old favourites... Surprise Surprise, Catchphrase and Celebrity Squares have made successful comebacks and brilliantly done and hosted, and brought up to date in terms of technology, etc... and kept pretty much the original formats, with only slight modifications, hence the fact that they have been renewed for subsequent series... However the recent revival of Stars in Their Eyes took the revamping way too far, and I cant see it getting past this series... Much as I like Harrys humour, the show was littered with too many out-of-place sketches, too many obviously scripted pieces of dialogue and the performers are only given just over a minute to sing, despite the show being over an hour long, as opposed to how it began in 1990 as a half-hour show. Such a shame really as Leslie Crowther & Matthew Kelly managed to make the show lighthearted and funny back in the 1990s, without having to resort to out-of-place sketches and pantomime humour.
