ITs no big secret that one of the major complaint is The Thing prequel is that the alien dont use stealth. People defend it by saying it learned to stealthy after it encountered the Norwegian camp. Honestly, I dont buy that premise because its too convenient to explain away why the alien was a mindless killing machine in the prequel. One of the things that made John Carpenters The Thing a classic is because the alien used stealth by hiding in an imitation, that created the suspense that the movie needed to make the scares effective. Since the alien didnt use stealth in the prequel, there was no suspense and its one of the reasons why it failed as a prequel to John Carpenters The Thing.
