Ibn ‘Uthaymeen said in his ‘Sharh Riyadh Al-Saliheen’: I - TopicsExpress

Ibn ‘Uthaymeen said in his ‘Sharh Riyadh Al-Saliheen’: I refer you to an important matter and that is when you swear an oath, say ‘Insha’Allah’ afterwards even if your friend does not hear you because if you say ‘Insha’Allah’ then Allah will facilitate for you your issue until you are able to fulfill your oath, and if Allah decrees that you do not get what you wanted then you will not have to pay an expiation and there is great benefit in this. For example, if you say to someone ‘By Allah, do not slaughter for me’ and then you say between you and yourself, ‘Insha’Allah’, and then he slaughters for you, there is nothing upon you and no expiation is required. Similarly, the reverse is true, and if you said, ‘By Allah, I will slaughter’ and you say ‘Insha’Allah’, even though your friend does not hear you, and if you do not slaughter, then you will not have to pay an expiation due to the hadith “Whoever swears an oath and says, ‘Insha’Allah’, did not break an oath’ and this is a great benefit and let it always be on your tongue. Allow Istithna’ (saying Insha’Allah) to always be on your tongue so that you attain two benefits: firstly, your issues will be facilitated, and secondly, if you break your oath then you are not obliged to pay an expiation.
