Ibrahim Abdul-Maleek Adam > PRISTINE SUFISM Am so happy about our meeting/ presence (hudur) here. Once upon a time in a far place, there lived a man. A waliyullah, an Imam and a teacher who teaches people (the deen). Every day he teaches from very early in the morning till day time. One day, while he was teaching, a stranger suddenly came in. None of them know of him before. So he greeted (made Taslim) everyone and the Sheikh then he sat at the back of the class waiting for the Sheikh to finish teaching. When he finished, the stranger said to the Sheikh that he has a question -- He said, there is an area in the Quran he doesnt understand. The area is where Allah said KULLA YAWMIN HUWA FEE SHAN (suratu- Rahman verse 29). i.e Everyday, He has a matter to bring forth. He continued: that the Shan of Allah is the work of Allah and the work of Allah is the destiny (qadr) and the destiny of all that will happen, has been set right before time started (Min Azal) - before creations started, Allah has already destined all affairs. Yet Allah still says KULLA YAWMIN HUWA FEE SHAN i.e Eevryday, He has a matter to bring forth. So the stranger asked the Sheikh, what work is it that Allah is still doing now? The Sheikh thought and meditated so deeply about this verse and after a long while, he said wallahi he too does not understand the verse. Then the visitor went away. The next day, as usual, the Sheikh was teaching, the stranger came again. He greeted the Sheikh and waited till he finished teaching. Then he asked the question again. He said, I still havent get the explanation of the verse. It says Allah is working every day, and the work of Allah is the destiny and this destiny has been set before time (Min Azal) so what exactly is Allah doing now? Ofcourse, the Sheikh repeated himself saying he too has no explanation to that. The third day, the stranger still came again and after greeting, waited till the end of the class. After that, he still asked the same question again about the verse and the Sheikh said he does not understand it too. Then they made dua and everyone left. When night fell, the Sheikh made abulution and did his ibada the way he normally do it. When he finished, he started meditating on the verse. He did that so deeply that he fell asleep thinking about the explanation to it. In his sleep, he had a dream (ruya) in which he saw Sayyidina Rasulullah (SAW). The Prophet discussed with him alot of matters of knowledge for a very long time. However, the Sheikh has very great respect for the Prophet so he was unable to ask the Prophet a question (which he was meditating about before he slept off) and theyve bid each other farewell. When the Prophet was going away, the Sheikh kept thinking about the Prophet SAW talking so much matters knowledge with him but he did not even mention anything about this verse he couldnt understand (and he couldnt ask because of his shyness in the Presence of Rasulullah SAW). When the Prophet SAW has gone far away and almost disappeared, he turned around and started coming back smiling [Hmm as if am seeing him right now that am typing this ] The Prophet SAW on getting to the Sheikh said: is there anything you dont understand pertaining to knowledge? He replied Ajal i.e Nam - Yes! There is a place Allah said: KULLA YAWMIN HUWA FEE SHAN (Everyday He has a matter to bring forth). What is the explanation to that verse? Because the matters of Allah (Shan) is His work and His work is the destiny of affairs and the destiny has been set Min Azal (before time), so what exactly is the work Allah is doing now? Then Rasulullah S.A.W said: the meaning of KULLA YAWMIN HUWA FEE SHAN is - shuuunun yubdeeha, Laa shuuunun yabtadeeha! i.e the work of Allah is to set all what He has destined back then into reality in the present time it was planned to manifest. [The reason for this talk is because of our meeting here. It is not now that our coming together is planned by Allah but right before time. However it is now it was destined to happen.] After the explanation by the Prophet SAW, he went away. Then the Sheikh woke up. He felt very happy about his understanding of the verse. Then he went to renew his abulution, made nawafil prayers and thanked Allah so much for the dream... This he continued till it was time for subhi (morning) salat. After salat, he started teaching his students as he use to do (that was the fourth day of the strangers arrival). Then the stranger came again and after greeting, he sat down as usual waiting for the class to end. The Sheikh said to him that if you wish, I can give you the answer to your question now or after the class. The stranger replied that the Sheikh should do as he please. So, he said he will give him the answer now. The Sheikh said: the meaning of KULLA YAWMIN HUWA FEE SHAN is shuuunun yubdeeha, Laa shuuunun yabtadeeha! On hearing this, the stranger said: salli ala man allamaka bi jawaabin! - Say salat upon the one who gave you the answer to this question! (i.e the stranger knows it was Rasulullah SAW that gave the Sheikh the answer). The stranger we have been talking about is Khidr (the mystical guide of Prophet Musa A.S who some say is a prophet and some say is a saint). The man being questioned is Ibnul-Jawzi (he is a great scholar and a saint of his time). So our presence here has been predestined right before time but is only manifesting now. I am so happy about our meeting here! An advise to the youths: hold fast to what you do very seriously as the youths are the leaders of tommorow and will as well teach the youths of tommorow. Whatever the old is doing now will perish because they may not be there to continue it tommorow but the youths today are to continue it! Hold fast with studies of the deen (Islam and Tariqa) and as well as the western studies, so that you can be double edged and set things right (this is among the advises of Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse RTA). The future of the nation is in the hands of the youth! May Allah give us good health, strength, vast useful knowledge and ability to set things right, so that the muslims, christians, pagans and everybody should be at peace! Assalamu Alaykum. From the words of our mentor: Mawlana Sheikh Ibrahim Tahir Yola RTA on a visit to Minna, Niger State. We ask Allah to bless him and grant him long and glorious life so that we can get more training from him, and this we ask Allah upon all our Shuyukh all over the world. *** JUMAT MUBARAK *** Assalamu Alaykum beloveds.
