Icequakes give researchers a glimpse deep inside Alpine water flows: A Story of Humming Glaciers! Researchers at Scripps Institution of Oceanography recently discovered that glaciers in southern Switzerland can emit a harmonic “hum.” A network of seismometers were deployed on the surface of a Swiss Glacier to try and better understand how mountain glaciers store fresh water. The data collected by the seismologists has given insights into how the glaciers cracking and where their water flows.
