Id forgotten about this PBS gem - or maybe I never saw it end to end before. Worth the 55 mins, if you have time as it kind of explains Neils disparate willful musical directions, to paraphrase Stephen Stills. Omitted my a top 5 Neil LP Comes a Time:( However, as that album comprised several orphan tunes written 2-5 years earlier, I can see why it missed the cut. A lot of good, edgy Neil commentary just as he begins to age cynically in 2006, before his medical close call. This doc subtly hints at what I have have remarked to others - Thunder Bay is really the town in North Ontario - where he stepped away from high school bop bands, met Dylan and McLean, discovered his sound and decided hed have to go further afield to be a musician. And then he endured a lost year, hopeless in Toronto - before breaking away. Been there too. It gives me strength lying bummed out in this basement. LOL Lyric paraphrase. So, sue me.
