Id like to do a Chopped dinner party, but I want to hash out the details first. The premise is that each of hte contestants would supply one ingredient to be used by all of the contestants in their surprise basket. Wed meet up a few hours before hand to exchange ingredients, then go back to our individual places, cook/prepare, and then meet at a central place again to enjoy each others results. I have studied the baskets from each of the episodes of Chopped, and they seem to follow a basic pattern; A protein (Meat, eggs, tofu, etc) A fresh fruit or vegetable (though sometimes this is canned) A starch/bread/pasta type thing, (though sometimes this is another vegetable, especially root vegetables) A strong flavor (herbs, spices, peppers, sugar, etc) So each of the cooks would have to go out and purchase *something* that *basically* follows one of those categories, lets say about $10 worth of it. Whatever is purchased would have to be something that is meant to be eaten, and it has to be non-expired or dangerous or moldy or anything. After those things are divided between the players, the cooks can use any other ingredients they want, and any kitchen utensils etc but they HAVE to use EACH of the ingredients, preferably with emphasises on them. Do I have four volunteers who would be interested in trying this on Saturday, Feb. 7th? If you are interested but dont want to cook, would you be interested in instead supplying one of the ingredients, and being part of the taste testing afterwards? I am guessing that the meeting points will be in Frederick, so being reasonably close to there would be good (to avoid spending hours and hours driving back and forth). Drew Wendt? Drew Rader? Pete Howard? Christopher Burge? Anthony Murphy? Michael Baker? Paul Victor Savitts? Jonell Stetsyuk? Josh Samuel? PS - 4 would be right, but if there are more than 4 people who would be interested in taking part, we can also have a dessert course and an Appetizer course. People who arent tagged are of course welcome to join, I just tagged the people I remember being interested in cooking that might like the challenge.
