Id like to introduce you all to Tequila. This tiny man is a 7 yo Chihuahua. He came into our care late yesterday after being brought down from northern Victoria by his owners. Today was our little mans check up at the vets. We noticed he had a slight limp when he came in and the owner commented that he would occasionally limp but she felt it was more for sympathy as he stopped after a while. Turns out that this little guy is not in a good way :( Tequila has a very serious luxating patella in his left hind leg. He has muscle wastage in both legs and as a result is extremely unstable on his legs. He also may have something nasty going on in his front leg as he is limping when he walks and his leg twists and foot turns out with every step. Tequila has some pretty funky breath going on and upon further investigation we discovered he has a very infected tooth in his tiny little mouth. Poor man is also sporting a nasty skin irritation which appears to be from a flea allergy (no fleas were found on him). Hes home now on pain relief and we have him booked in next Monday and boy oh boy is it going to be a HUGE surgery Ok, why am I telling you this???? Not so we can lay blame to his previous owners who did give a donation when he was surrendered (something I do not ask for when dogs come in as surrenders). Im sharing all this because we need help!! Puppy Tales Rescue is taking on more and more high needs medical cases and as a result we are going broke fast. We take these babies in as these are the ones that wouldnt see it through in the pound system. By getting our beautiful babies when we do they are stress free and loved from the minute they come in the door. In doing this we are seeing our funds dry up fast. We will be holding some fundraising events over the next few months. You can expect to see BBQs, Garage Sale, Markets and Events, Adoption Days and sales in our Pop up shop.
