Id like to propose a meeting for this group, together with Vandergrift Council, and other organizations which would like to be a part of a good meeting and discussion. My thinking is that an evening during the first full week of October would be a good target time for this meeting. Lets say Thursday, October 7 at 7 pm at the Casino theater, unless there is a reason this time will not work. The theater is available for community use that evening, and its big enough to hold a large gathering. This meeting should not be either a Green Party or a Borough meeting, but a gathering co-hosted by both groups with a panel composed of representatives from both groups, and the opportunity to present written and verbal questions from both sides. This will only work if there is participation by our elected officials and the most vocal of the people in this group. Im suggesting October 7 because it will allow time to organize and to publicize the community meeting in the newspaper, on social media, and with flyers at the Art Festival the prior weekend. This Green Party is a great idea for the exchange of ideas, and there already exists a nonprofit 501c3 organization to which this group can attach for the purpose of fundraising or organization into committees--that is the Vandergrift Improvement Program, or the VIP, which organizes the Art Festival, Light Up the Night, and the Farmers Market, to name a few things. The VIP was originally a Main Street Program by decree, however, now that the initial funded period is finished, there is no reason to keep the group as a Main Street program. Having the nonprofit status already is an invaluable asset. I would like to ask anyone who would like to take a leadership position to organize this meeting - from both the council and from the members of this group to sign on to this thread, and then those people have a planning meeting (it can also be at the theater if desired) prior to the public meeting...just for organizations sake. Set a definite date, and then work toward it. What do you all think about that? (Im a board officer for the theater, and this is already okd as a voluntary venue for a meeting)
