Id like to take this opportunity to thank Kyra Cross Aldridge, Tara Tate Sanders, Cheryl Land, & John E. Mitchell for sharing their time & friendship with me last night, as we broke bread & fellowshipped over a good meal at Firebirds Restaurant, here in Collierville, TN, which is a suburb community in the Metropolitan Memphis, TN area. With the exception of John Eric, it had been almost 35 years since I last laid eyes on these childhood friends & former classmates, & this occasion FAR EXCEEDED the reasonable expectations & hopes Id had before I decided to make the effort to accept the gracious invitation extended to me by Kyra, because I had been in excruciating pain all day long. I am grateful to, not only, each of you for the warm & compassionate reception you offered me, but, mainly, to God for giving me the time, the opportunity & the inclination to place myself in the enviable position of accepting the request for my presence, & finding out, in the process, that I am, not only, loved & cared about, in spite of all that had transpired over the years, but that you can go home again, & that God has, indeed, placed good people in my life, who exemplify the true meaning of the word, friend, which, I believe, to many, is an undervalued relationship, but one that Ive grown to cherish & truly desire for my life. Which is why I wanted to share with the world how each you blessed me last night (Friday), although, you may think that you did nothing worth mentioning. But, for me, it was much more than just a meal, while we sat there simply talking about current events, our lives & parenthood. It way a life line that I dearly needed. So, once again, Thank you, guys for this experience. Ill treasure it for the rest my days. And, to anyone else who may be reading this, let me just say this: reach out to those people who once mattered to you (& hopefully, they still do), & may have at one time been a really good friend. For you never know how you might be able to really bless someone, who just may be in need of that human touch from someone special, like yourself, & you will receive a blessing, too.
