Id say the New Yorker is a tad late with its summer reading - TopicsExpress

Id say the New Yorker is a tad late with its summer reading advice, but its a good stepping off point to talk about using libraries. Were not here to judge your taste in literature. Were here to help you find it on the shelf. Think bartenders for books. So dont be shy about asking us for help. Leave your bookstore attitude at home. Youre not buying the books, youre checking them out. Checking out one book costs as much as checking out five books. Take a chance! You just might discover something wonderful. A quick recipe for a Labor Day book run: three books from authors you already know you like, one book from the NYT Best Seller list that sounds good (posted on the end of the 7-Day shelf), one book from the mass market spinner racks by the Ask Here desk on the first floor. When you finally get that well-deserved time to read, reach into your book bag and grab one. If it doesnt catch your interest after the first chapter or two, put it away and grab another one. Simple. -Preston
