Idaho Falls is the second-best small city to move to in the U.S., according to a study released Tuesday by the real estate research blog, Movoto. The study ranked 50 cities with populations of less than 60,000 by six criteria: unemployment rate, cost of living, crime, median household income, median home price and homes for sale per capita. Idaho Falls placed No. 2 for its low median home price of $126,000 -- 37 percent below the national average -- and low unemployment rate -- 22 percent below the national average. Idaho Falls also ranked high for its low cost of living -- 12 points below the national average, which was the best of any other city in the top 10, according to the study. Michelle Holt, Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerces chief executive officer, wasnt surprised to hear about the citys high ranking. I think anybody who lives here recognizes the attributes that make Idaho Falls a really special place, she said. Its a big small town. You have access to arts, culture and restaurants but then youre just minutes away from just about any kind of recreation you can look for. In terms of small cities it has great appeal for relocation. Yet another fantastic reason to live in Idaho Falls!!
