Idaho spent approximately $60 million in 2012 to cover costs - TopicsExpress

Idaho spent approximately $60 million in 2012 to cover costs incurred by patients who could not pay their hospital and doctor bills. Most of these bills were wracked up at the most expensive venue available, the emergency room. The Medicaid Expansion portion of the Affordable Care Act would shift these costs to the federal government and offer access to more cost-effective care in doctor’s offices. First though, the Idaho legislature has to find the wisdom to approve the Medicaid Expansion portion of the law. Monday, November 18 at 7:00 pm, Idaho Health Care for All will present a forum at the Boise Library on Capital Blvd. featuring James Baugh, JD, executive director of Disability Rights Idaho, Alex LeBeau, president of Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry, Rep. Thomas Loertscher, Republican from Dist. 32, and Corey Surber, executive director of Community Health and Public Policy with St. Alphonsus Health System. Come learn about this provision that will save Idahoans money and offer needed care to our fellow citizens.
