Idahoan Alert! Your Senator Senator Mike Crapo supports the TPP/TTIP international mergers or Partnership that will merge the US with a multitude of other nations politically and economically that resulted in the creation of the EU abolishing the sovereignty of each independent nation as the EU was created. Is this what the GOP has in store for you and why would this be better than a vote for a democrat when we complain that the dems are destroying our nation as well? NOw is a good time to take the time to write ol Mike and urge him to reconsider as he supports a multi thousand page agreement that he has never read because it was to be a secret?!?!? Here is his letter! Dear: Friday, January 16, 2015 Thank you for contacting me to express your reservations about current trade negotiations involving the United States and the President’s request for a renewal of Trade Promotion Authority. I welcome the opportunity to respond. The pursuit of reduced tariffs on trade items has been a fixture of the U.S. government policy since the trade wars of the 1930s that contributed to the economic stagnation of the Great Depression. Trade liberalization is intended to expand economic growth and reduce consumer prices for goods and services enjoyed by the American people and companies. In this increasingly interdependent global marketplace, our economic growth is directly dependent on the flow of goods and services to customers here and abroad. Nonetheless, I appreciate your thoughtful observations about the potential effect of trade agreements impacting domestic workers and industries. American workers and farmers can compete with the best of the world in a free and fair marketplace. However, if our competitors impose unfair barriers to trade or distort their own markets, the U.S. must act to protect our producers and exporters. I favor vigorous enforcement of our trade laws to fight dumping action and illegal subsidization used by other countries. The U.S. should also ensure that those workers and companies directly displaced by trade policies receive the training and assistance through the Trade Adjustment Assistance programs. Trade agreements require the concurrence of Congress to enter into force. Because of the many potential consequences and implications involved, such as those you highlighted, Congress must carefully evaluate any potential agreement. As the United States Trade Representative considers future trade agreements with other countries, I expect the Obama Administration to advocate for the needs of American consumers and exporters, while minimizing the displacement of competitive domestic industries. Again, thank you for contacting me. Please feel free to contact me in the future on this or other matters of interest to you.
