Idle thought: Considering the over-abundance of calories in much of our food, and all of the problems that entails (healthwise, socially, reproductively) do you think its possible/plausible that were creating evolutionary pressure for our bodies to be less efficient in converting food into energy? In other words, will those people whose genes are inefficient in food->energy conversion be sufficiently reproductively advantaged -in places where food scarcity is not a problem- by the whammy of higher physical attractiveness, better job prospects, higher social status etc. that those genes will gradually become more prevalent? Im not (as you can probably tell) very clued-up on evolutionary science, so please be gentle ;)
