If Craig Whyte’s A Fraud, What Does That Make McCoist?... Or Murray For That Matter?... Now that the authorities have caught up with fugitive Craig Whyte in Mexico, we will be treated to a multitude of reasons why the ‘billionaire’ was to blame for the demise of the club formerly known as Rangers by a duplicitous media. Their articles on Whyte will make him out to be some sort of mass fraudster who was responsible for bringing Scottish Football and one of it’s oldest institutions to it’s knees. We, of course, know otherwise. We know that David Murray wasn’t duped, he not only sold the club to Whyte for £1 he actively sought out the Motherwell born ‘investor’ with a view of getting rid of the debt ridden noose that was strangling him. We also know he chose to implement dubious tax schemes to gain an advantage over the rest of Scottish football’s clubs, mainly Celtic.(he admitted so). And we know that his club were granted a football licence to play in Europe wrongly as they were in dispute with HMRC over a tax bill. Only the ‘laptop loyal’, who will be fed more moonbeams to print will believe that the man from Charlotte Square was innocent in the whole Rangers/Sevco saga. They won’t print that Murray was advised not to sell to Whyte or that Murray himself told Craigie Bhoy about raising monies secured against season tickets as he’d done previously. Nor will they turn their attention to the real fraud over the last three years Ally McCoist. Evidence of how the shambolic excuse of a manager gets off scot-free was witnessed last weekend when his all kicking, all fouling team were humbled in Edinburgh by Hearts. It’s the same team that has the second highest wage bill in Scottish football but can’t even top the second tier. When Whyte was greeted outside the Crumbledome as the ‘Messiah’, little did he know it would be the former Question of Sport panelist that would cause him most problems. He inherited the ‘cheeky chappie who has been masquerading as a football manager for three years now.
