If GRNC wanted to recommend Berger JUNIOR in order to ingratiate themselves with Berger SENIOR to grease a pathway for their legislation, all they had to do was be honest about it. I can truly understand why a 2nd amendment group needs to be in the good graces of the most powerful state senator of NC. He controls whether your legislation makes it to the floor or not. If you had just been honest to begin with, and said, We are supporting Berger JUNIOR because hes a good 2nd amendment defender, and we need to keep his dad as a friend, people would have understood. There was no need for the whole charade of the survey, (which I suspect was never sent to Mark Walker until he was told that he missed the deadline and requested it) and the faux outrage about what was said at the debate. It all points to the fact that no matter what Mr. Walker returned or said or did, he could not have gained your support, because you cannot afford to piss off Berger SENIOR. Just be honest about it. It was a political decision that you think is the best to move your agenda forward through the legislature. We can handle the truth.
