If God has called you to pastor or be an elder in your church - TopicsExpress

If God has called you to pastor or be an elder in your church follow this advice from Peter. Peter is giving us all advice on humility and respect of how we should treat one another. Notice it is not a Darwin mentality of survival of the fittest. It is the younger submitting to the elders. It is each of us submitting one to another. It is about forsaking pride and putting on humbleness. For the meek and the humble shall inherit the earth. We should seek the Lords humbleness and his meekness and his lowliness. Matthew 23:12Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted. Philippians 2 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 1 Peter 5 1The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: 2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; (not for filthy lucre), but of a ready mind; 3 Neither as being lords over Gods heritage, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. 5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
