If I asked myself who am I, I wouldnt know how to answer it. But I - TopicsExpress

If I asked myself who am I, I wouldnt know how to answer it. But I can tell you that Ive found a way by comparing my life with three others. First is Frederick Douglass, a run away slave to Massachusetts to tell his experiences as a slave. No one believed him because he did, not talk like a slave, look like a slave, or act like a slave. In comparison, Ive worked under the beating sun before the ability to read and write, to become a housekeeper to farmer to a handyman, fixing own car problems. But if you looked at my hands, you wouldnt believe me either. Its soft, scarless, and clean. Next is Booker T. Washington, who was imprisoned by poverty. Jobs were scarce and unpleasant for freedmen, so he formed a new racial identity, as citizens, not slaves and victims--through patience, education, hard work, and good manners. In similarity, I see myself as a model for my culture. My own experiences is an ideal for other young Hmong people. I lived in homeless shelters and finished my degree, so can you. I received new clothes from my parents once a year and willing to wear it, rather than insisting them to get more or cool ones. Your improvements will be granted with power out of respect. Last is Friedrich Nietzsche, who believes that there is no moral code, meaning no rights or wrongs. He is the man who boldly chooses, and in the act of choices finds meaning. This strongly describes me. Like him, I found meaning in making my choices and lived with the consequences.
