If I could give anything to my kids aside from the basics, it would be Depth. Very simple. Not costly. Not the most popular in hopes for kids. Not fame. Doesnt require tons of intelligence. Not given at big parties or accepted well as a gift. Wont pay the bills. Just depth. Empathy, sympathy, intuition, foresight. The ability to notice others and their needs. Looking people in the eye enough to see if theyre okay. Sharing because they have enough to do so without judging why others are in the position to need. Not believing that people with everything are always happy. Knowing what enough is. Stopping to help...or aching inside when they cant. Ministering whether big or small and with or without a Bible. Understanding the difference between a quantity and quality. Understanding that a smaller, lesser lifestyle with less brand names affords you freedom from doing work you hate for people who dont have depth and gives you time for deeper experiences. Id want them to desire conversations full of big dreams and grand plans to save the world and not talk about things that are so last year and hot alternated with gossip about others. Its a simple thing to want for them but it would probably change everything in their lives.
