If I only had five minutes, the day you passed away I still wouldnt have had time to tell you all the things I needed to say I never got to tell you how much you mean to me Or that you were the best dad, better than any man could be I never got to apologize for my past behavior, Im sorry Or the countless sleepless nights, I know I made you worry Hearing your voice on the phone, I knew that something was wrong I sprinted back up to ICU, the doctors grabbed me and said be strong I quickly signed the form consent for treatment While I watched them take my father, my heart filled with pain and resentment I crouched down in the waiting room, helpless and asking God for a wish That He could take Dad and I back to when we used to fish Pictures of my fathers face, his words ringing through my ears Feeling so scared and frightened, eyes burning from the tears The doctors tell me only time will tell I pretend that I am in front of Snow Whites wishing well Daddy, Id give you one last hug and see your great big smile Id tell you that I dont think I could live without you, not even for a while Id kiss your cheek and take your hand and tell you its okay to go And tell you that Ill miss you, more than youll ever know A part of my soul had died When I watched daddy slip away, as hard as he tried My father was my hero, a man who was so strong What happened to him in that hospital, was oh so very wrong Daddy is no longer suffering, enjoying all of heavens beautiful things I take comfort in knowing that my Daddy earned his wings Wait for me in heaven Dad, dont let me go alone The day the angels come for me, please be there to bring me home - A poem I wrote dedicated to the most amazing man I have ever known. It has been a year today since God called you home. I miss you so much Daddy. I would do anything to be wrapped up in your arms right now.
