If I see one more post/status/ecard about how being a stay at home is easy Im going to flip. Like seriously?! Im not just at home in my pajamas eating bonbons all day. I may not be doing hard physical labor, but I am so emotionally drained and tired by bedtime its not even funny. I clean the same rooms 2-3 times a day because if you look at them after an hour it looks like I havnt cleaned them up in the first place. I cook lunch every day. I cook dinner most days. Do you know how hard it is to complete a simple task like unloading the dishwasher or cooking a meal when youre home alone with a baby?! Yes, it may only take you 5-10 minutes to do it, but it takes me 30-45 minutes to complete everyday tasks because I have to make sure my toddler isnt killing herself by jumping off the stairs or coloring on the walls with markers. My job is 24-7. The only break I get is during her nap time. And that is the ONLY sanity break I get most days, so yes, I am going to spend it relaxing by watching Netflix or doing research to try and make myself a better photograher so I can help support my family. If being a SAHM isnt a real job, then youre basically saying that child care providers, daycare workers and nannys dont have real jobs either because were doing the same thing. And on the same note, if I see one more thing putting down woring moms Im gonna flip too. You think they LIKE being away from their kids all that time? They have to do what they have to do to support their family. Its pretty sad that we live in a time when instead of not being able to afford to stay home, we cant afford for me to work because childcare is so freaking expensive.
