If I wait on the world to tell me when to stop, I never will. If I wait for the perfect moment to take a break, I never will. If I wait to live life until the duties are done, I never will. But if I can take pause on one of the busiest street corners in the country and connect to the one I love, I must try to do it at home. And this is what I’ve found … There are moments in between the duties and busyness of life that can be made sacred. Meals at the kitchen table, time in the car, morning send offs, and nightly tuck ins all hold great potential—potential to be all there. Within the responsibilities of life, there are opportunities to meet her gaze … ask her questions … listen to her thoughts … sit beside her as she does something she enjoys. No longer will I wait for the world to slow down before I give myself permission to slow down and be all there. Some moments are too important to rush past. Some moments must be grasped … so they can be remembered after I am gone. © Rachel Macy Stafford 2013
