If I were driving a Hummer, and someone said to me that my vehicle - TopicsExpress

If I were driving a Hummer, and someone said to me that my vehicle was a major contributor to global warming, I would have two options... 1. Admit that it was a problem and try to do something about it. 2. Call them a Hybrid loving, bicycle riding elitist and dismiss them entirely. That wouldnt make much sense would it? Even if they are a hybrid loving elitist - it doesnt change the fact that my Hummer is still a problem, does it? That is what is happening right now when people are speaking out about the enormous impact that livestock, and the meat industry on a whole, has on global warming. People are immediately dismissing the facts based upon their perception that we are all vegan elitists. The thing is - vegan elitist or not - your burger, and bacon, is still a problem. Sixty billion livestock animals are still a problem whether I think that I am elitist or not. Dismissing the facts based on whether someone feels they are an elitist is not logical. If people want to go around pretending that the facts dont exist - feel free to blame whoever you want for it, but remember that pretending facts dont exist is what put us in this situation to begin with.
