If We If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will - TopicsExpress

If We If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9-10 How do you view the commands of God? So many people look at the Ten Commandments as a list of do’s and don’ts and as hard as we may try we cannot seem to keep them. We have an inherent inability to follow commands to a full obedience. Now we might not murder someone with our guns or whatever instrument but there are so many times in our anger our thoughts of people are the same as murder according to Jesus. We do not need to commit the actual sin to sin. I view the Ten Commandments as a promise of a life free from troubles and strife. Can you imagine a world where everyone loved God and loved their neighbor? When asked which commandment was greater, Jesus said love the Lord your God with all you have as the first commandment and love your neighbor as the second. I want you to visualize a world where everyone would claim the promise that is in the Ten Commandments. The promise is if you love the Lord and love your neighbor you do not have to worry about your life, it will be good. For the world to truly take hold of the promise that Jesus Christ has taken hold of you for, would create a Garden of Eden type of atmosphere. We can only take hold of that promise by placing our hands in the nail-scarred hands of Christ. We could never keep the commandments of God in our own strength and power, just look at the Old Testament and the Children of Israel; they failed miserably in trying to live by the law. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. As Christ called us to deny ourselves, take up the cross and follow Him daily, we must live according to the Spirit of God and not the sinful nature that we have. Because of our sinful nature we are unable to fulfill our part of the promise of the Ten Commandments. The human spirit may be willing but the flesh is too weak. It is only thru the shed blood of Jesus that you and I can be declared holy and righteous. That is the justification of the sacrifice for us by Christ. We are justified by Christ. We are sanctified by the Word of God. We are declared righteous but we must follow Christ to truly become a part of the promise of the Ten Commandments. If we follow Christ daily in the denial of our flesh like Paul in Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ,” all of the world in confessing their sins would be purified and the world God created would be glorious again. Now I know everyone will not confess their sins until judgment day but the more of this world that knows Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior the better the world will be. The “If we” is a very big thing here and all we do. If we confess, If we follow, If we tell others are big If we’s! There are a lot of things in this world that would be better, “If we!”
