If a fox eats little else, a fox can eat about 5,000 mice a year. That goes a long ways in helping farmers, agriculture and suppressing Lyme disease. In the absence of mice, fox easily switch to berries, crickets and grasshoppers, young rabbits, voles, and even roadkill and garbage. When mice populations do rise, however, a few red fox can go a long way towards knocking their numbers back down again. Coyotes help keep the fox population in check. Fox can be legally trapped unlimited year round in Montana and no reporting required. Over 10,000 were voluntarily reported trapped in 5 years. https://facebook/video.php?v=10153051443080375&fref=nf
