If a stranger called you at home and asked you for money, would you pay? If he/she invited herself over to your house, would you grant access? These two scenarios recently occurred in separate incidents to CoServ Electric members in the Flower Mound area. The scams involved a request for immediate payment to avoid disconnection and an unsolicited home walk-through to help lower utility bills. In both cases, members contacted CoServ immediately to report the incident. CoServ would like to remind members of the following: • If someone comes to your door and claims to represent CoServ, please don’t allow access without proper identification. • If a CoServ employee with proper ID comes to your door but you still have questions, please call CoServ to confirm that we’ve sent personnel to your home and for what reason. • If CoServ representatives contact you to discuss your account, the caller ID will carry the CoServ name identifier. CoServ members can email reports of suspected scams to contact@coserv. For more information on attempted scams in the area, please visit tinyurl/n53h5lu or call CoServ at 940.321.7800. If you are a Flower Mound resident and feel you are a victim of a scam, please call the Flower Mound Police Department at 972.539.0525.
